Considerations in calculating the approximate total funds that you will require for study include your planned length of stay, tuition and fees, living expenses, and health insurance. Provision needs to be made for yourself and any dependents who will accompany you.

Estimated expenses

For accompanying family members, we recommend budgeting in living expenses an additional $90 per week of planned stay for spouse plus $35 per week per child. Child-care expenses such as babysitting and/or day care is an additional cost. Health insurance (see below) is required for all family members.

Tuition payments and refund policy

Tuition and other fees are invoiced after classes begin each term. Payment is due in full within five business days of invoicing date. Late fees will be assessed to overdue accounts.

No refunds are given for tuition payments. Tuition reductions are not given for late arrivals or early departures.

Students are responsible for making their own housing arrangements. The LCI does not invoice for housing costs.

Third-party payments

An official, signed copy of a letter of financial guarantee is required of all students who are on scholarship or will be sponsored by a third-party organization. The letter should include the student's name, ID number, scholarship amount, period of validity, and sponsor's billing details. It should be sent as soon as possible for receipt no later than the end of the first week of classes.

A pending credit will be placed on an the student's account until a financial guarantee is received. The student is ultimately responsible for payment. If payment has not been received from the sponsor before the end of classes for the semester, the pending credit will be canceled, and the student will be billed. Students will be notified before pending credit is canceled.

Health insurance requirement

Health insurance covering care in the U.S. is required of all LCI students and accompanying dependents. Health insurance may be purchased upon arrival. Purchasing health insurance through the LCI will cost $60-$170 per month per person or family member, depending upon the ages of those covered and the type of plan chosen.
