Yes. While enrolled in AdvantageVT, you will take specialized courses that fulfill the university’s general education requirements and fully prepare you to enter your degree program.
Yes. Depending on your chosen pathway and courses, you can earn 15‑18 transferable credits that count toward completion of your degree program.
AdvantageVT staff will conduct TOEFL testing on arrival for any students who need to retest.
Yes. The AdvantageVT program provides all students with additional tutoring support to help you succeed academically.
If you have the necessary grade-point average but don't meet the AdvantageVT English proficiency requirement, you can be conditionally admitted to Virginia Tech and study in the pre-pathway Intensive English Program until you qualify.
Yes. Upon successful completion of the program, you will have advanced standing in the freshman year of your degree program.
Yes. The AdvantageVT program staff will support you to ensure you adapt to being an active member of the student community and to living in the United States.
Yes. Virginia Tech issues the initial I-20 for English language and will transfer your I-20 to the undergraduate program after successful completion of AdvantageVT requirements.
Yes. The AdvantageVT program is taught entirely by expert Virginia Tech faculty, all of whom hold advanced degrees.
Virginia Tech encourages undergraduate research and makes many opportunities available through classes, summer institutes, and internships.
No. Advantage VT applications are reviewed on a “rolling basis” as they are received. Most decisions are made in 3-5 business days.
